Kelso-based Scotmas has been awarded the title of “Best Medium Business” at the 2023 VIBES Awards.
The awards, celebrating businesses prioritising sustainability and environmental responsibility, recognised Scotmas for its commitment to reducing waste and promoting eco-friendly practices.

Scotmas has implemented several eco-friendly initiatives, including the use of renewable energy sources, the reduction of single-use plastics, the implementation of recycling programs and the adoption of electric vehicles. The company has developed a range of Chlorine Dioxide-based (ClO2) water treatment solutions that are safe for the environment and do not contribute to the build-up of hazardous chemicals.

This award serves as both a testament to our progress and a reminder of our duty to continually develop products that promote a sustainable and greener future for everyone,” said Nicola Cameron, the Commercial Director of Scotmas.
Environmental and sustainability targets are implemented throughout the business, with 26% of total company mileage in 2022 covered by electric vehicles, compared to 12% in 2021. Furthermore, commuting miles have been saved by offering staff hybrid working patterns, while recycled or recyclable packaging is used for their products. Scotmas is pursuing accreditation to B Corp standard by 2024, and the company is on track to achieving Net Zero by 2025.
