We are thrilled to share some exciting news from our CEO, Alistair Cameron.
Alistair (pictured right) has been honoured with the King’s Police Medal for Conspicuous Service in the 2024 Birthday Honours. This prestigious award is a testament to his dedication and unwavering commitment to serving our community.
Many know Alistair as Scotmas Group’s CEO and the leading Chlorine Dioxide solutions specialist. However, what may come as a surprise is his long-standing commitment as a volunteer police officer, known in Scotland as a Special Constable. For the past 27 years, Alistair has been donning the police uniform for a few days each month, responding to emergency calls that range from road traffic collisions to mental health crises and domestic violence incidents.
A Commitment to Community Service
Alistair’s journey as a volunteer police officer has not only served the community but also significantly transformed him. The invaluable skills he has developed -conflict management, de-escalation, negotiation, and empathy – have been honed under immense pressure and seamlessly integrated into his professional leadership. These experiences have challenged and shaped him in ways he never anticipated when he first joined as a 19-year-old student seeking life experience and new skills.
While his journey has been filled with moments of excitement, it has also come with its fair share of challenges, including fear, injuries, and heartbreak. There have been times that tested his resolve, making him question why he continues volunteering instead of spending those moments with his family. Yet, for every moment of doubt, countless experiences have filled him with a profound sense of purpose—finding a missing person, helping someone in crisis, or simply offering comfort to those in distress.
Transformative Impact
Policing is only sometimes a popular vocation, but Alistair takes immense pride in being part of an organisation dedicated to keeping people safe. Over the years, his colleagues have taught him invaluable lessons in teamwork, courage, resilience, and compassion.
